Niharika Rana has spent nearly a decade caring for, rescuing, and working closely with animals. What began with feeding and helping street animals gradually grew into years of hands-on experience in animal rescue, rehabilitation, everyday care, and welfare work across Delhi NCR.

She is the Founder and Content Lead at The Buddy Company, an online pet supplies platform created to help pet parents make better-informed choices for their companions. She is also the Founder of TheCutePaws, an animal welfare NGO working with volunteers, feeders, and veterinary professionals to support animals in need.

Niharika's knowledge of animals comes primarily from years of first-hand experience. Alongside her work with animals, she regularly reads and researches pet care, animal behaviour, safety, products, and welfare, and continues to build her knowledge through conversations and work with veterinary professionals.

She writes about the things she has learned through real experiences — from understanding animal behaviour and choosing safer pet products to everyday pet care and lessons from rescue work. Her aim is not to replace professional veterinary advice, but to make practical, well-researched information easier for pet parents to understand and use.

Niharika is also passionate about sustainability and follows a vegan lifestyle, values that influence the way she thinks about animal welfare, responsible consumption and the products she chooses to bring to The Buddy Company.

Niharika's work with animals began at the grassroots level, through feeding street animals, helping injured and sick dogs, supporting rescue cases, and caring for community animals. Over the years, this work grew into TheCutePaws, an animal welfare organisation that brings together volunteers, feeders, and veterinarians to support animals across Delhi NCR.

Through TheCutePaws, Niharika has been involved in the sterilisation of more than 2,000 dogs, vaccination of more than 500 animals, regular feeding programmes for community animals, rescue and treatment cases, and initiatives focused on improving the safety and living conditions of street animals.

Years spent around animals have given her a practical understanding of the challenges pet parents and caregivers encounter every day — from animal behaviour and handling to walking safety, unsuitable products, injuries, stress, and basic care.

Niharika's approach combines first-hand experience, research, continuous learning, and guidance from veterinary professionals.

She regularly reads about animal health, behaviour, nutrition, safety, products, and welfare to strengthen her understanding. When working on medical or specialised subjects, she relies on veterinary professionals for guidance and recognises the importance of professional diagnosis and treatment.

Her writing is based on what she has personally observed, experienced, researched, and learned through years of working with animals.
